Pre-prom presentation

Cara Filler

Accidents can happen at any moment for teen drivers, but driving at night, distracted driving and driving under the influence greatly increases those chances.  Prom season can be a dangerous time for teen drivers.  It’s crucial for teens and their parents to take steps to ensure safe and responsible driving during this time.

The Vincent R. Gagliardi Foundation was thrilled to welcome Cara Filler, a renowned speaker, author, and entrepreneur, for a special event today at the Somerville High School.

Our pre-prom presentation for the juniors and seniors at Somerville High School was a great success.  Cara’s presentation showed why ‘choices’ matter and how these choices have consequences that impact their lives, their families and their friends.  Vincent’s mom, Kelly also spoke, sharing our family’s loss.   “We mourn the loss of our loving, kind, funny, adventurous, 17-year-old Vincent every day and all the special moments he has missed.  No senior prom, no high school graduation, no more skateboarding or gaming, no college, no marriage, no babies.  Instead, we are left with the unbearable weight of his absence.   I share this with you not to bring sadness, but to bring awareness.  As you drive, think of the impact your choices have on your families and those you love.  Each decision can be the difference between life and death.”  We hope that this presentation will have a lasting impact on the students, and they will make responsible choices when it comes to driving and other aspects of their lives.
